machete
The machete ( /məˈʃɛti/; Spanish pronunciation: [maˈtʃete]) is a large cleaver-like cutting tool. The name is Spanish, meaning "little sledgehammer." The blade is typically 32.5 to 60 centimetres (12.8 to 24 in) long and usually under 3 millimetres (0.12 in) thick.
In the English language, an equivalent term is matchet, though it is less commonly known.
