A car specially modified so that it sits very low to the ground, originating in the Mexican-American culture of California.
Lowriders often also sport highly ornamental wheels (typically with wire spokes) and/or body work, showing off the individual owner's work on the vehicle, as well as hydraulic suspension systems that allow the driver to control the ride height or even bounce the vehicle around.
