Louisiana (French: Louisiane; Louisiana Creole: Lwizyàn) is a state in the Southern United States of America. Its counties are called parishes (French: Paroisses; Creole: pawas). The state borders Texas to the west, Arkansas to the north, and Mississippi to the east. Its capital is Baton Rouge and its largest city is New Orleans (French: Nouvelle-Órleans; Creole: Nouvèl Orleans)
