katsu (food)
A breaded, deep-fried meat cutlet. This is usually a pork cutlet (豚カツ, tonkatsu), but there are other versions including chicken and beef.
Commonly served with shredded cabbage and a thick brown sauce, or on a rice bowl as katsudon, or with curry as katsu curry, or as a katsu sandwich.
Not to be confused with tonkotsu ramen, which is ramen topped with char-siu (sliced pork belly).
