A 2013 to 2023 manga series written by Yamamoto Souichirou. It was first published as a one shot in Gekkan Shonen Sunday in June 2012 and then serialized in Gessan Mini since June 2013. An anime adaptation was produced by Shin-Ei Animation and aired during the Winter 2018 season, with a season 2 adaptation following during the Summer 2019 season. A third season followed, airing during the Winter 2022 season.
The series follows Nishikata, a middle school student who is teased by his classmate Takagi-san, and his efforts to try and make a successful comeback--to cause Takagi to blush from embarrassment.
There are also 4 manga spin-offs based on side characters and future events.
- Karakai Jouzu no (Moto) Takagi-san is about an older Nishikata and Takagi who are married and have a child named Chii.
- Karakai Jouzu (?) no Takagi-san is about the everyday stories of Chii, now the same age as Nishikata and Takagi in the first manga, as she tries to be just like her mother to another male classmate to mixed results.
