A war between Israel and Hamas militants and allies in the Gaza Strip, Palestine that began on October 7th, 2023, with Hamas' attack on Israeli settlements and military outposts around the Gaza Strip. Israel accused Hamas of indiscriminately killings civilians in order to justify a full scale invasion of the Gaza Strip to "neutralize the Hamas terrorist once and for all".
The war quickly devolved into a full-scale military operation inside the Gaza Strip by the Israel Defense Forces, with multiple cases of scorched earth tactics used by the IDF to level off the Palestinian settlement and starving the population (to which Israel denied by claiming that it was a "precision strike" against Hamas), along with various claims and evidence of atrocities committed by the IDF. This led to call for ceasefire and support for Palestine around the world.
The war has also spilled over to various middle east countries, particularly countries under the influence of Iran such as Syria, Lebanon, and Houthi's Yemen, while Israel received militarily and political support from the United States and NATO, which led some analysis to consider the war as a proxy conflicts between the US and Iran.
The conflict has brought the overall Israel-Palestine conflict to public knowledge and has been a divisive topic that are defended and condemned to the most extreme extent. Supporters of Palestine condemn this as "continued European colonization" or an example of genocidal oppression, while supporters of Israel argued that Israel has the right to "defend themselves" against the hostile forces, regardless of the ways this can be achieved.
