ishihara shintarou
Right-wing ultranationalist Japanese politician who served as Governor of Tokyo from 1999 to 2012. In otaku circles, he's remembered as the leading figure behind the revision of Tokyo's Youth Ordinance Bill (which restricts the sale of 'problematic goods' to minors), otherwise known as Bill 156, to include manga, anime, and non-real life photographs, which passed in 2010, garnering mass backlash from the affected industries, with failed attempts by otaku politicians to reverse it since.
He passed away in 2022 at the age of 89.
