honolulu (kancolle)
Honolulu Honolulu(艦隊これくしょん) Honolulu(艦これ) ホノルル ホノルル(艦隊これくしょん) ホノルル(艦これ)
Kantai Collection's personification of the USS Honolulu (CL-48).
Character design by Ugume.
Appearance
Visually, she has typically Caucasian characteristics of long blonde hair tied in twintail ringlets, blue eyes, and a well-endowed body. She wears a stylized military uniform composed of a crop top which exposes the underside of her breasts, a sleevess blue pleated dress and a white overskirt as well as black thighhighs and rudder boots. Her machinery consists of her twin smokestacks at her back and cannon turrets at her sides. By default, the cannons are closer to her person, but her first remodel shows the cannons more outstretched and the machinery is given a different paint job. Notable is that her normal CG also shows her blowing bubble gum, which she clearly ditches upon her first remodel.
Personality
Shipgirl Honolulu's voice lines give her the impression of being a non-native Hawaii resident who greets and blurts out phrases in the Hawaiian language and has immersed herself somewhat in the culture of the Hawaiian archipelago.
History
The historical USS Honolulu served in the attack on Pearl Harbor, Battle of Tassafaronga, the Battle of Kula Gulf, the Battle of Kolombangara and the Battle of Peleliu. She was taken out of action by serious torpedo damage just before the Battle of Leyte Gulf. She was repaired, but not in time to rejoin the war. She was decommissioned in 1947 and was held in reserve until she was scrapped in 1959, by which time, her namesake city had become the capital of the 50th state to join the Union.
