A 17-year-old western lowland gorilla who lived at the Cincinnati Zoo. He gained attention on May 2016 when a young child accidently fell into his exhibit, in which his zookeepers decided to fatally shoot Harambe to ensure the safety of the child. His death sparked both outrage and humor in the form of internet memes.
