hanzo hasashi

Mortal Kombat character. A member of the Shirai Ryu clan of ninja.

In the first two timelines, he was one of the greatest assassins of the Shirai Ryu, but Hanzo would be killed in an attack that claimed his wife Harumi, his son Satoshi and his entire clan. He would be brought back as the undead ninja specter known as Scorpion. Burning with rage, Scorpion sought vengeance against the Lin Kuei, the Chinese ninjas responsible for the attack, and Sub-Zero in particular for killing him. But unbeknownst to Hanzo, the demon sorcerer Quan Chi was the true author of the events that led to the fall of his clan and his family's deaths.

In the original timeline, he would remain eternal rivals with the second Sub-Zero, Kuai Liang. In the rebooted timeline, he would learn the truth behind his fall of his clan, and make peace with the Lin Kuei to fight against Quan Chi. As such, up until 2023, all depictions of Scorpion were Hanzo. In the third timeline, the position of Scorpion would be taken over by Kuai Liang. He would end up joining the then-newly-formed Shirai Ryu under Scorpion as a kid. In the first season of MK1's Invasion Mode, Hanzo's Scorpion appears as 'Hellfire Scorpion', invading after defeating Kronika in his timeline, attempting to find a Harumi to be with, which ultimately ends with Liu Kang finding a timeline for him where she was alone... because the Hanzo of her timeline had died, resulting in her becoming Scorpion instead.
