Ammunition for handguns and submachine guns. Distinguishable from rifle cartridge by its shorter size, commonly straight-walled casing and rounded bullet tip. Common calibers are 9×19mm Parabellum, .45 ACP, .357 Magnum and more.

Also applicable to PDW rounds that resemble miniature rifle cartridges, such as FN 5.7×28mm.
