fw 190
A World War II German fighter-bomber produced by Focke-Wulf Flugzeugbau AG. It had wide-track landing gear and a rearward-sliding raised canopy. Initial models had a short, tightly cowled nose housing a radial engine; later ones (the D and Ta 152 series) had longer noses with liquid-cooled inline engines (see post #520843 for a comparison). They also had lengthened fuselages and longer wings.
The Fw 190 could carry combinations of nose- and wing-mounted 13mm machine guns and/or 20mm cannon. Some had a 30mm Motorkanone firing through the propeller hub, while the ground attack versions could carry rockets or bombs. The Würger ("Shrike" or "Butcher Bird") could also carry external fuel tanks.
