frisbee
A frisbee, or flying disc , is disc-shaped toy, generally about 20-25 cm (8-10 inches) in diameter and usually made of plastic, that is thrown with a flick of the wrist. A circumferential lip and airfoil cross-section enable the disc to glide farther by generating lift as it rotates. The name Frisbee itself is a trademark of toy manufacturer Wham-O. The name Frisbee (though altered to avoid trademark infringement) is based on the name Frisbie Pie Company, a company whose pie tins had their name stamped on it and were already being used as improvised flying disc toy referred to as a "Frisbie" by kids and college students.
