A small cylindrical explosive used to create noise invented in ancient China, it comes in both single pack and in strings. A very common and popular tradition to celebrate the Chinese New Year, often alongside fireworks. This practice is said to originate from the legend of Nian, a beast who harasses villages during New Year that is scared of loud noises. It's also used as decorations, in forms of strings hanging on the walls.
