chimes (instrument)
A type of tuned percussion_instrument, chimes are a set of objects which produce sound when struck, suspended from a frame made of wood or metal. These objects are different lengths or sizes to produce specific pitches. There are two main types, both made with metal tubes: a small set of chimes suspended from a length of wood that makes a sound resembling a wind_chime; and a large set of chimes hung in a metal frame that sound like church bells when struck with a mallet. These large chimes are also known as tubular_bells_(instrument).
