cake stand

A tall, pedestal-like plate used for displaying cakes, especially in a shop's window or for weddings. See post #3238614 for an example. Some cake stands have a glass dome for protecting the cake.

Be careful not to confuse this tag with tiered tray. A cake stand only has one level.
