bristol beaufighter
The Bristol Type 156 Beaufighter was a British World War II twin engine heavy fighter. A fighter development of the earlier Beaufort, it was used for a number of roles including night-fighter, torpedo bomber (Torbeau), and rocket-armed ground attack aircraft (Rockbeau). It was also used as an improvised maritime strike aircraft and anti-shipping aircraft (as in the battle of the Bismarck Sea, post #4403886).
It was predominantly used by Commonwealth air forces, especially Australia, that even produced its own Beaufighters domestically.
