bellflower
The bellflowers belong to the Campanulaceae family of plants, which comprises around 2,000 species. Inflorescences vary widely. These hardy perennials bloom from early summer to early fall. The leaves are simple and alternating, while the flowers are bell-shaped and consist of a narrow lobed corolla.
Not to be confused with lily of the valley, which has a shorter, rounder bell-shaped flower.
