battle angel alita
A science fiction and cyberpunk manga series created by Kishiro Yukito in 1990. Known in Japan as Gunnm (銃夢, pronounced Ganmu, meaning "Gun Dream"), and in the west as Battle Angel Alita.
The series tells the story of Alita, an amnesiac female cyborg found by cybermedic expert Ido Daisuke, who repaired her body and also gave her her name.
The rebuilt Alita soon discovers that she possesses instinctive knowledge of the legendary martial art Panzer Kunst. She must learn to navigate, exist, and fight in the Scrapyard, whose inhabitants themselves live in the shadow of the tantalizingly close floating city, Salem. Her journeys take her across the Scrapyard and surrounding areas, as she tries to recall more of her past.
The manga was later made into a 2019 live action movie called Alita: Battle Angel.
