A large chain of ice cream parlors based in Massachusetts, USA. Founded in California in 1945, by brothers-in-law Burt Baskin and Irv Robbins, the chain is international with stores in nearly 50 countries across the globe, including Japan. Its popular slogan "31 flavors" was coined in 1953 with the implication that a customer could have a different flavor for each day of the month. Thus, in Japan, Taiwan, and China, it is more popularly known as "Thirty-One Ice Cream".
The inner lines of the "BR" logo form a "31" shape. To avoid litigation, artists sometimes use other numbers, such as "13", which forms a "B".
