atlanta class light cruiser
An 'anti-aircraft cruiser' originally intended to replace the Omaha class (in terms of tonnage classification as determined by treaties of the era). One of the few classes of warships to have super-superimposed turret arraignment (although that led to some top weight issues). Designed to lead destroyers squadrons their main armament was the same as those of destroyers (although they have many more guns). Generally a somewhat lackluster design although they actually had a rather comprehensive ASW suite (although their lack of maneuverability compared to destroyers made that a moot point).
