ammunition belt
A belt of ammunition as feeding device for belt-fed firearms. Commonly machine gun, minigun or Gatling gun.
The cartridges are held in chains of looped metal links which can be connected to form belts of any length. It may disintegrate after firing or not. These disposable links are discarded (along with the empty shell casings) upon firing.
Not to be confused with a bandolier, which is a belt or sash containing cartridges worn on a person's chest, or an ammunition pouch, which is a pouch for holding ammunition that may be worn around the waist.
