秋雲 (Autumn Cloud)
Akigumo is the nineteenth ship and last of the Kagerou-class destroyers in Kantai Collection.

Appearance and personality
She wears a school uniform identical to the Yuugumo-class, with a pleated skirt, vest and pantyhose. This is due to being placed together along other Yuugumo-class (as described below).
For Fall 2016, she participates in the Nakau promotion with a bowl of Katsudon.
For Fall, Christmas and End of Year 2017, she is outfitted in casual dress with a dark green blouse and a long yellow skirt. She is carrying a tablet PC which is used for drawing what appears to be a new doujin manga. The Christmas revision has her being exhausted from work but with a nearly complete version of the same page she was working on. The End of the Year revision has her doing the advertisement for her doujin, implying it was about Kazagumo. The New Year 2018 version has her drinking a beer, satisfied of her completed work. The equivalents for 2018 (The Christmas crunch time series) has her drinking more and more energy drinks and culminating with the removing of her blouse. The tablet PC shows a remodeled Kazagumo in increasingly complete versions. For New Year 2019, she switches to a new outfit and drinks beer to celebrate.
She has long brown hair and green eyes, and wears her hair in a ponytail with a brown hair ribbon. She also has a mole under her right eye which is sometimes omitted by fan artists due to not being easily obvious. Her iconic grin is often parodied.
Due to her lines she is often portrayed as a manga artist and is sometimes shown being involved in doujinshi. This explains quite well the inspiration behind her artistic side.
History
The confusion regarding Akigumo's actual class (a Kagerou wearing a Yuugumo school uniform) stems from the blurred lines on design between ships of the two classes. This is further misled by her name, which makes more sense among the "clouds" in the early Yuugumo-class ships, and it being written on "the wrong side of the ledger" ahead of Yuugumo. Further fanning the confusion, Akigumo was "orphaned" to even up numbers among Kagerous and assigned to Destroyer Division 10, made up of Yuugumos. Even the surviving crew of the historical destroyer thought they were manning a Yuugumo-class ship. Akigumo's actual identity as a Kagerou was revealed in 1994, when researchers found IJN documents stating the ship was "Kagero-class, Akigumo." Akigumo was also supposed to be the nameship of the class of improved destroyers following the Kagerou class, but was instead built with Kagerou blueprints; the improved destroyers then bore Yuugumo's name.
