Japanese multinational food and chemical corporation, most well-known internationally for its monosodium glutamate (MSG) product, from which the company derives its name, Aji-No-Moto (literally "essence of taste"). Alongside MSG and other condiments/seasonings, the company also produces processed foods such as instant noodles (ala instant ramen and pasta) and instant soups, frozen foods, coffees, cooking oils, TV dinners, sweeteners, amino acids and pharmaceuticals, among other things. In particular it is the world's largest producer of aspartame, with a 40% global market share.
They also produce Knorr-branded products in Japan under license.
