agano (azur lane)
Azur Lane's personification of the Japanese light cruiser Agano, the name ship of her class.
Character design by Hecha, voiced by Shiraishi Haruka.
Appearance
See post #3060306.
In the game, she has long black hair tied by a red hair ribbon to a long ponytail, with red eyes. She also wears a mix of traditional Japanese clothes (with prominent long sleeves), pantyhose, and a black skirt.
Her rigging consists of two 15.2 cm twin gun mounts and two 61 cm quadruple torpedo tubes, one gun and torpedo mount on each side but her torpedoes are attached to her waist.
History
In real life, Agano and her sisters were to have replaced the aging Tenryuu, Kuma, and Nagara classes of light cruisers as destroyer squadron and submarine squadron flagships. Only Noshiro and Yahagi were able to fulfill that said role, however.
She was completed in mid-1942 and thrown into the front lines of the Guadalcanal and Solomons campaigns, eventually seeing action in the battle of Empress Augusta Bay on 2 November 1943 where Sendai was sunk. Just a few days later, she sustained severe damage from an air attack by Saratoga and Princeton and was forced to withdraw to Truk.
Not fully repaired, she was again attacked by US naval forces in Truk on February 1944 and sunk while retreating to Japan, with Oite rescuing more than 500 survivors. The next day, Oite herself was sunk with all of the Agano survivors.
