achilles (mythology)

A legendary hero of the Trojan War from Greek mythology. Famous for having been a mighty warrior and impervious to harm in all places but his heel, giving rise to the 'Achilles tendon' as well as a person's fatal weakness being referred to as one's 'Achilles heel', as he is ultimately slain by an arrow to his heel.
