In Black Lagoon, Mr. Chang represents the Kan Yi Fan Triad in Roanapur. Out of all the crimelords of Roanapur, Chang and his Triad are the most dedicated to keeping the peace in the city, and often act as the voice of reason when the syndicates have a meeting. Mr. Chang's general look and design, as well as his penchant for dual wielding guns, are a direct homage to Chow Yun-Fat from John Woo's Heroic Bloodshed movies.
