Canonical portrayals of Houraisan Kaguya, in major contrast to her usual fanon portrayals, like those in pool #2813.
Some characteristics of Kaguya's canon personality that are often overlooked or misrepresented:
- She once despised humans, but after living among them on Earth she has come to love them.
- She is described as an "unearthly beauty".
- She enjoys visitors, entertaining them by holding exhibitions of Lunarian treasures and telling them stories. She is depicted as wanting to explore the world outside Eientei, and her personality is very sociable and nice -- quite the opposite of the usual fanon depiction of Kaguya as a social recluse.
- A description of her spellcard "New Impossible Request -- Seamless Ceiling of Kinkaku-ji" (from The Grimoire of Marisa) indicates Kaguya, contrary to popular belief, actually has great physical strength.
- Her fights to the death with Fujiwara no Mokou are, of course, canonical. However, based on comments made by Kaguya, it seems to be more a thing they did on the past than something that continues to this day. Their present relationship appears to be a more light-hearted rivalry, though they still don't get along. This sample panel is typical of their "official" relationship in Gensokyo.
- Kaguya herself is based on The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, a well-known Japanese folktale, and is implied to actually be the character from that story.
- Kaguya's laziness comes from the fact that she has a lot of free time because of her immortality. However, Kaguya herself despises doing nothing, saying that this is boring, and she even started taking care of a bonsai tree so she wouldn't be so bored.
In general, canon Kaguya's behavior is more sweet, social, naïve and ladylike than is usually seen in fandom, with the only significant exception being her battles with Mokou.
Any depiction of Kaguya where these traits are emphasized qualifies for this pool. However, a picture of Kaguya just being sweet does not, by itself, mean it should go here; if Kaguya is shown kissing or showing affection for Mokou, for example, that's obviously far removed from canon and thus wouldn't fit in this pool.
Also, since there isn't any official romantic relationship for Kaguya, pictures showing Kaguya on a romantic/sexual relationship do not belong here. (Tip: Any picture with the tag yuri probably isn't canon, and shouldn't be added to this pool.) Pictures of Kaguya showing non-romantic love to anyone except Mokou are okay.
