Collection: Touhou - Life at the Hakurei Shrine

Long Term/Permanent Residents

Characters who are confirmed or believed to be living at the shrine for the foreseeable future.

• Hakurei Reimu, the actual owner of the shrine.
• Komano Aunn, a komainu statue on the shrine's grounds that came to life; often treated as a pet dog.
• Clownpiece, a hell fairy that lives under the shrine.

Indefinite Term/Previous Residents

Characters who were living at the shrine for some period of time. Canonically, they are believed to have either gone back to their previous residences or are otherwise no longer living there, but they are often depicted as living simultaneously to each other in fan works. The main group depicted living at the shrine is the three permanent residents and the Windows-era trio of this group.

• Ibuki Suika, a drunken oni. Lived with Reimu and helped with cleaning up for a while after Immaterial and Missing Power.
• Sukuna Shinmyoumaru, an inchling Princess. Was kept in a miniature house at the Hakurei Shrine after the events of Double Dealing Character.
• Yorigami Shion, the poverty god. Stayed with Reimu for a time towards the end of Antinomy of Common Flowers while her sister was sent to train at Myouren Temple
• Genjii, Reimu's old turtle familiar and mentor. Not usually depicted in the modern era of Touhou, and currently stated to be living in a pond near the Shrine, but can show up occasionally.
• Sendai Hakurei no Miko, a fan character depicted either as Reimu's predecessor or mother.

Frequent Visitors/Neighbours

Characters who comes to the shrine on semi-regular to regular bases, and may be depicted as living there in fanworks. Usually should not qualify for the three characters in the pool, but may do so if the work is clearly themed around them living with the confirmed residents, and works depicting them on top of the confirmed residents can still be considered themed around the Hakurei Shrine life.

• Sunny Milk, Star Sapphire and Luna Child, the Three Fairies of Light, who live in a tree behind the shrine, close to the Great Hakurei Barrier. Like the frolicking Fairies pool, any combination of them only counts as one person to prevent the pool being flooded with them.
• Kirisame Marisa, who hangs out at the shrine frequently. Often depicted as a resident herself.
• Ibaraki Kasen, the Wild and Horned Hermit, who visits frequently to monitor Reimu's progress and behaviour. Often shown as either a mentor, a mother figure, or both.
• Yakumo Yukari, another mentor/mother figure, who only drops in occasionally.
• Kaenbyou Rin, who frequently invites herself over. Often treated as a rival pet to Aunn.
• Mima, a PC-98 character who was repeatedly sealed at the shrine (and who repeatedly broke out over and over again).

Phantasmagoria of Dim.Dream only.

Characters who only move to the Hakurei Shrine in one of Phantasmagoria of Dim.Dream's various endings. As these endings are largely mutually exclusive (and none of these characters have ever appeared outside of Dim.Dream), they are almost never included except in the most comprehensive of sets.

• Ruukoto, a robot maid gifted to Reimu by Yumemi.
• Kana Anaberal, a ghost who asked to be moved to the Hakurei Shrine by Yumemi.
• Ellen, a witch who wanted a magic shop that was built on the shrine grounds.
