not sure, but when i watched chinese kung fu movies, i remembered people mentioning tiger palm. or was that a leopard palm?
I could definitely see that gesture being used outside of martial arts though... clawed_hand?
Doesn't pose imply the entire body has to be some way rather than just the hand? Clawing_hand?
Not really. Just reminds me of a fighting stance, which is where you usually see this kind of thing. If we want to be really specific I guess you could just say "Claw_finger_pose" but I think claw pose is more to the point.
Clawing hand is a little better, I guess, but still seems a little too vague for me.

Looking it up it seems it is part of the Eagle Claw Fist technique.
I suppose a tag eagle claw fist technique would imply that the entire body has to be some way, rather than just the hand, though.
And, apparently, Shandong black tiger fist uses that gesture as well:
... unique fist position (where the thumb is curled in the same manner as the other fingers, rather than wrapped around them)
*bumps*
Just mid-closed hand, maybe?
The idea of "fingers are claws" is strong here, though, so clawing hand, claw pose, etc, have a point.

I don't know where you got that impression from at all. Eagle Claw Fist would probably the best "official" name there could be for it. Other than that claw pose is the best simple name.
mid-closed hand could be any number of things, and clawing hand seems to imply something is being clawed, rather than any kind of pose.

Well... clawing at the air?

I don't really get the problem, but the name isn't that important to me.
Should be. That's the name people are going to have to try to find it by and to use without accidentally mistagging it on the wrong images.
In absence of an official name, claw pose is growing on me.
