When checking Kakiuchi Itsuki's Twitter feed, I discovered this connection after doing an image search on twitter #1535272420004663296, which maps to post #2287439 (kisuke_(akutamu)).
The tweet says:
なんとなく昔描いた絵を見返してたんだけど、このイラストは結構お気に入り。
周年だったし初代大好きだから、気合入れたんだよなー。
でもトレーナーだけでポケモン描けなかったから改めて描きたい。
Which machine translates as:
I was kind of looking back at some old drawings I did, and this illustration is pretty much my favorite.
It was the anniversary of the first Pokemon and I love the first Pokemon, so I put a lot of effort into it.
But I couldn't draw Pokemon with just trainers, so I want to draw them again.
It kind of makes sense too, since the earlier artist stopped creating content around November 2016, and started posting artwork again around Feb 2018 on their new Twitter account (created December 2017).
I wasn't able to find any other direct connection other than the tweet above, similar art style, and the matching timelines of disappearance/reappearance, so I'm submitting this for a 2nd opinion. I went with the later name because it is more recent and it makes for a better tag.
