Various versions (color swap etc) of images

I need a better subject line but just look at post #146146 for what I mean. Sakichi Suzu does this a lot.

He did Liese from SD3 in six versions. Green normal, green twintails, black normal, black twintails, purple normal, purple twintails.

How would you guys handle it? I upped both green ones and linked to the rest. I can see arguments both ways in terms of uploading them all.

Pro: If the site goes down, the links are no good, upping them all provides (semi)permanent storage on Danbooru.

Con: Spammy.

Thoughts/opinions/suggestions? Do you have a policy on this, Albert?

Doujinshi uploads seem related here but those are somewhat more easily obtained.

I usually just upload it on nyaanbooru or gelbooru.

? I'm not sure what you're saying here. Did you check the image I linked, and the comment posted to it? I'm asking if people think all six variations should be posted in situations like this.

Currently: if the total number of combinations is less than 10 or so, just upload them all. At the least, it helps with dupe checks.

For a long term solution (that might also address doujinshi), perhaps a related/parent post field would be useful, and any post where this field is not empty will be hidden from the listing. I'm a little wary of any potential performance penalty this would incur, though.

I've considered mentioning such things in the past but I imagine it would indeed be a lot of work on your end.

I was just trying to say that doujinshi uploads are kind of related to this topic. Doujinshi links on rapidshare don't last for long usually. But you're right, it's quite off-topic.

My seconds answer is what I would do. Actually, I did check out the links before I saw this thread and they were quite good actually. But someone (albert?) mention in another thread that you just pick what you can and just post it. If someone actually found them all good, they'd save all of it. Still, I know where you're coming from and I think we just need wait for albert to have a final say on this.

Ah ok, I see where you're coming from, with the issue of permanence of external links. But yeah I was focused more broadly.
