Mosaic Art

Taking a (random) picture from the internet, manipulating it through a mosaic software (using whatever picture that guy has on his hdd) and uploading the result as "ART" on danbooru,
is that really acceptable?

I'm looking at post #728304 for example (not to mention that the original picture itself doesn't qualify for danbooru). The other posts in mosaic_art aren't much better, except for post #417846 and post #710292 .

I think they're actually pretty elaborate, considering most of them are made up of clusters of images related to the subject matter (or in the case of the later two you linked smaller versions of the image its self). Also the man in the linked post is ZUN, creator of Touhou, and thus the mosaic its self is made up of many many many Touhou images. I think its probably fine.

Of course, I could be completely wrong and talking out my ass too, so if that's the case I apologize in advance and shall promptly flay myself in shame.

If these are just being done through some piece of software and passed off as "art" then they're only a step above motivators for me in terms of where they fit in Danbooru's mission.

Every post on the mosaic art tag was very obviously just created via software except the two S1eth noted as exceptions and post #544275
