Rating change bug?

Posted under General

In my travels, I've noticed that there are certain posts that I can't change the rating of without changing the tags as well. For example, post #105661. Whenever I try to rate it Explicit, it changes back to Questionable. The only way I can change it to Explicit is to change a tag too. What's up with that?

Rating was locked on that post

When you hit "edit" there's a whole list of stuff you can change...

Rating Explicit Questionable Safe
Parent Post
Prev Post
Next Post
Note locked
Rating locked
Source
Tags

So that checkbox tells you if it's rating locked or not, and you have to edit it twice to change the rating if it's locked (once to unlock it and once to change the rating).

Maybe you non-priviledged users can't see or change all those options?

I imagine it's intentional, because non-privileged members can't lock or unlock.

Well, I'd like to know explicitly when I don't have access to change a post's rating, especially since Danbooru gives me the illusion that I do by printing "Post updated" yet not showing a change in the rating.

Hahaha, son of a bitch that's pretty silly!

Maybe there should just not be an edit button for locked posts if you're non priv'ed.

Or wait is it just for the ratings? What's the use of rating locks anyway? I can see the use in tag locks to stop sabotage, but ratings?...

You can easily sabotage an explicit post by marking it "safe" and vice versa.

Also, I would agree with just hiding the option from non-privileged users.

On a somewhat related note, what's the point of having both "Delete" and "Flag for deletion" options for the same post?

You can only delete your own posts. "Flag for deletion" shows up on all posts.

Well, yes, that's obviously understood. But isn't a bit absurd to make "Flag for deletion" available for your own posts? You can't flag your own comments for deletion.

Just ignore it. There must be hundreds of various combinations of factors that could make this or that option useless in one or the other specific situations, but albert has better things to do than to specialize every page for every one of them.

It doesn't affect your browsing, so don't worry about it.

You have no idea how often ratings used to be vandalised. I never really understood why and how that happened (some kind of dumb spambots?). But pretty much every post would get the wrong rating upon reaching certain age. I'm seeing beginnings of that happening again, but it's nowhere near the old danbooru's level yet. And there's the whole user level thing that probably makes it less likely to occur.

Yeah there's... a lot of weirdness waaaaaay back in the earlier pages. Everything seems to be rated very high or negatively, ratings are all over the place...

Things are much better now.
