Tell me you didn't read the wiki without telling me you didn't read the wiki.

I read the wiki, no one is confusing the concept of being tired for car tires.

Personally this is one I always need to double check since I tend to type tired only to realize we don't use that as a tag.

Car tires aside, people might well attempt to tag images similar to this with "tired", and there definitely should not be an alias in place that could result in the tag "sleepy" ending up on them instead.

Yes the point about exhausted is more compelling, changed my vote to a meh.

I still think tired is more closely aligned with lack of sleep, but I could see the alias leading to accidental mistags of the workout variety.

Personally, I think "tired" as a utility alias to exhausted would be much more useful than sleepy. I'm always screwing up thinking "tired" is exhausted, but not once have I confused "tired" for sleepy, because the vibe of a post under sleepy is completely different from the vibe I think of when I go to tag "tired", only to remember it's exhausted.

You might think so, but considering this is the SIXTH attempt at trying to alias tired to sleepy or vice-versa, it just demonstrates how tired is still ambiguous and why it was ultimately deprecated.
