It gives both "Сухопутные войска Российской Федерации" and "Сухопутные войска" as names on Wikipedia, and further searching in Russian shows usage of "Российские сухопутные войска" and "Сухопутные войска России".

For the record, I was just giving *any* source. "X is called Y" vs. "No, its not" isn't particularly useful in a thread.

Looks like you're confusing army for armed forces/military. The Russian Army is a branch of the Russian Armed Forces, much like the US Army is a branch of the US Armed Forces.

That's how things are in Russia. Russian Army includes all the forces.

I see the wiki definition is "the land branch". In that case renaming the tag will actually make things more clear for russian users.
