Lecture hall to classroom

Posted under Tags

Lecture halls may technically be a type of classroom but they're definitely distinct enough that if I were looking for images of classrooms I'd be mildly annoyed to find lecture halls in the results. As a certified college alumnus I took undergrad classes both in classrooms and lecture halls, and they are not the same concept or vibes.

In my opinion the difference is

  • Classroom fits 30 people at most, usually has desks or tables to sit at, movable around the room, 1 or 2 chalkboards/whiteboards/projectors, maybe around 400 square feet (sorry I can't convert freedom units to normal units off the top of my head)
  • Lecture hall usually fits at least 100 people if not more, rows of chairs like an auditorium usually affixed to the ground, often has those goofy retractable(? idk how else to refer to them) desks you can put in front of seat or very long tables for each row, usually has 3+ whiteboards/chalkboards/projector screens and often a speaker system, often has tiered seating/steps/sloped floor
