I just noticed there is also hand_on_floor and hand_on_ground for the singular hand. In this case, both have their own wiki page and are used about equally as much (1136 and 1372 respectively).
We do have the floor tag, and the wiki definition for floor specifies that the surface should be of a room or vehicle, so maybe there is an argument for keeping both tags to have a distinction between floor and ground (for all other ground surfaces)?
But I also see them get used interchangeably in cases where the background and surface are left blank, thus fragmenting those posts. A few examples of this are hand_on_floor: post #7945393, post #7925118; hand_on_ground: post #8072566, post #6283623

The tags on_floor and on_ground are seperate because the significant detail is what the character is on top of. The significant detail for these tags is that a character is pressing their hand(s) to the surface beneath their feet, not what that surface is made of. It doesn't matter whether it's the floor or the ground.
