Can't Translate

I'm new to uploading images, and uploaded a couple because I have translations for them. However, while I can draw note boxes, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to input text into them. It says "click to edit" but that does nothing I can see. The wiki says I should see a box with buttons that I am not seeing. Does the image need to be approved before I can add notes, or is there something I'm missing?

Also, the two images are part of a set, but I cannot for the life of me get parenting to stick. (It's just the two, so I'm pretty sure a pool would be excessive.)

You shouldn't need to worry about the images being approved beforehand. I've done translations on pending and even deleted posts before when the mood struck me, and I use the same system as you.

Sometimes, the box for the translation takes a while to show up for me when I press "Click to Edit". So it could just be that error, unfortunately.

Also, the easiest way to add a parent/child is to copy the target parent's post ID (found at the bottom of any given page), and either insert it into the "Parent" slot of the post editing mode (that big box with all the tags), or in that box, add "parent:[post ID]", whichever is easier. The latter method also works if you want to add a child from the parent's page, just use "child:[target child's post ID]" instead.

For the notes, make sure you're clicking the pop up that says "Click to edit", not the note box itself. A text field should appear.

For parenting, make sure you're only putting the post ID into the Parent field, not the entire url. Someone else took care of it, though.

There isn't, and never has been, an ID at the bottom of the page for me. Are you using an add-on or something?

I think they were referring to the "Information" section on the left-hand side where the post ID and Source are.

Yeah, that's what I was referring to. Sorry, it appears I didn't word myself correctly.

Ah right. I was looking at the literal bottom of the page like a doofus.

For the post ID, you can also copy it from the URL (which blindVigil sort of mentioned already). It’s my preferred method since you don’t have to scroll through the page (useful when the post has a lot of tags). Just make sure you copy the left number, not the right, when navigating through parent/child or pool relationships.
