They're called "towers" to distinguish them from this kind of ancient, squat computer cases, but nowadays they're just called computer cases.

Not entirely sure. NUC and some SFF formats aren't really towers.
Additionally, this tag seems to not be used for just the case, but just any PC full in the tower form factor, which is generally called a "tower PC", and Wikipedia calls it a Computer tower.
Also, in general computer/diy "lingo" the specific term "computer case" isn't really used, it's usually just "case", so naming it computer_case wouldn't conform to that either.
