alias muchimaro-chan -> michinoku_komaro

I disagree, characters are more than a visual appearance. While both are the author's self-insert, one is canon and the other is an original character that doesn't exist in the universe of AnaAru

I might've been inclined to agree with your disagreement if only - assuming the translations I read were accurate to the raws - a character from AnaAru didn't nearly break the fourth wall and call her Muchimaro instead of Michinoku. I agree with an alias for Danbooru purposes because there really isn't a strict need to differentiate them for searching; use an extra tag to include or omit as desired from AnaAru.

The other option if it matters that much is an implication. Insanely pointless to have two different tags for virtually the same character though. You can argue this off on other platforms but for Danbooru, their visual similarity is enough to justify joining their tags. Danbooru is an image board.

Breaking the fourth wall with a meta joke still doesn't mean that they're the same character. It would also put us in the odd position of having to tag images of Muchimaro as from AnaAru despite the image being created years before the series was first published.

In addition, Muchimaro appears in the manga tankoubons as the author's standin. At the end of each tankoubon, Muchimaro will draw herself in a short comic situation with her editor as they discuss some facets of the story in a humorous way and behave in a manner very-unlike Michinoku. At this point they are undeniably two different characters.

I think an implication is the better way forward as this means it wouldn't imply copyright being shared as stated by the tag implications wiki page.

Just to correct you: I never said they weren't different characters - they absolutely are. My point is that for the purposes of Danbooru, having two tags for characters that look exactly the same is pointless bloat, and part of the text of the manga itself almost confuses the two. Besides implications for costume chartags, I don't see a point in keeping the tags distinct for an image board. If they were very clearly visually distinct, I would be against the alias. Tags can't be based off of obscure knowledge or semantics, tags are intended for searching and visuals.

This is just the character's OC inserted into a new series. They're not different characters, it's the exact same character with exact same design. Also, most of the posts of muchimaro-chan already overlap with michinoku_komaro, so it's already de-facto treated as the same character here.

Thank you for approving it. Fapping to Komaro is now much more streamlined ๐Ÿ‘
