"Eye strain" / "Saturated" Tag; accessibility tag

Posted under Tags

Having the chromatic aberration tag has been useful as a deterrent for eye-strain, and as a means of better accessibility overall.

I cannot find, however, a tag for images/artworks where the image has overwhelming saturated bright colors that could strain the eyes.

I personally find it most commonly in over-saturated backgrounds of bright colors, especially red backgrounds.

Here are some examples of images I'm alluding to:

However, given the ambiguity and subjectiveness of the term 'eye strain' (and to avoid conflation with depictions of sore/squinting eyes), I wondered if the saturated tag would be more appropriate, given that colors with high saturation are concurrent with eye strain.

The wiki is null -- it does not have a descriptor, so I wanted to hear other's thoughts on this description:

Images that are dominated by color(s) that are, or near, 100% saturated.
For images with low saturation, see muted color.

All the best.

ngl I never really considered chromatic aberration an accessibility tag (and there probably shouldn't be any tags like that, that's not what tagging is for), but I guess it does double as one pretty well.

I think the concept you're describing is pretty "taggable" so to say, but saturated sounds like a pretty meh name, unlike muted color the meaning isn't immediately obvious. A simple fix would be just calling it saturated color, maybe other people have better ideas.

oh, i made a favgroup about this a while back! i had the intention of creating a similar thread to this but i wasnt sure how to word it. i think its a little subjective ... as in different peoples eyes are offended by different things. for example, some things in my favgroup (favgroup #23055) no longer affect me the same way they did when i added it

so far neon palette has been used a makeshift eyestrain tag. it would be great if we could move some of the posts out of that tag to keep it more consistent with its wiki.

i mean... we have epilepsy warning

As someone who can't bear to look at "eyestrain" palettes for more than two minutes, I am in favor of a tag for the concept being created. I don't think "saturated" is a good tag name though, as that could end up being used as a colorful duplicate or something. Not sure if "eyestrain" is a good tag name for it though.
