When I wrote the wiki for racetrack, I wrote that it was to be used for motorsports racing tracks and horse racing tracks (but not running tracks) as that's how the tag was being used. As it turns out, a dedicated horse racing track tag already existed, however it seems to have been severely underused since it's creation in 2021, with most depictions of tracks for horses just being thrown into racetrack. I'm not sure what to do about these tags going forward, but I have three possible changes:
- Keep both tags separate - remove the horse tracks from the racetrack tag and continue gardening to keep them in their own tag
- Implicate horse racing track to racetrack - turning racetrack into an umbrella tag, which would probably lead to then making dedicated tags for road courses, oval courses, and dirt tracks to offer more granularity in searches.
- Alias horse racing track - I don't think this is necessarily the best option because I'm sure there's users who would want to see horse tracks without motorsport tracks, but racetracks in general may be deemed to niche of a topic to be so specific about on Danbooru.
Please weigh in with opinions before I go gardening tags or setting up BURs to make these changes.
