Imply yuusaki_riko -> yuuki_rito

Posted under Tags

Meh because of yuuki_rito genderswap_(mtf) (which all Yuusaki Riko posts should be tagged as anyway and are not).

If my recollection of the anime doesn't evade me, Yuusaki Riko is not significantly different from Yuuki Rito. Calling Yuusaki Riko an alter ego of Yuuki Rito is wrong because he doesn't undergo a significant personality change, change of spirit or anything of the sort that would realistically separate them as characters, nor do they exist independently.

Yuusaki Riko is at most a pseudonym. Rito is still very much aware of his changed body and is still himself but just passes off as a woman in social circumstances to appear as a different person. They aren't actually different.

IMHO should be mass updated to yuuki_rito genderswap_(mtf) -yuusaki_riko then nuked. The meh is because there's potential precedent, alternate forms as separate chartags, search utility, and because I'm not going to pretend I know what's best for the chartag.

Honestly, if we were to do that, I think it would give off the impression that the genderswap isn't official, which it is. Even then, we have stuff like Kyonko, who isn't even a canon character, just a genderswapped version of Kyon. Which is a thing because of this line in the genderswap wiki:

If a character is genderswapped often enough, the genderswapped version may be given its own name.

If even non-canon genderswaps can get their own tags when done frequently enough, the case for nuking a canon one is nonexistent.

Are there examples of other similar genderswap implications?

The only examples I can find looking through the list of genderswap characters are Oda Kippoushi (fate) and Shimakaze-kun. Kippoushi seems to be an alternate form that happens to be a genderswap, while Shimakaze-kun is either a crossdresser or a genderswap. I guess we have a bit of precedent with Kippoushi here, but Naruko (naruto) and Ranma-chan aren't implied either, and they're also alternate forms of Uzumaki Naruto and Saotome Ranma, respectively.
