Fallout: New Vegas tags

Posted under Tags

BUR #26290 has failed.

create alias ncr -> new_california_republic
category ncr -> general
category brotherhood_of_steel -> general
category enclave -> general
rename enclave -> enclave_(fallout)

The New California Republic, NCR for short, is a faction in Fallout: New Vegas and not a character.

EDIT: Also including Brotherhood of Steel and Enclave in here. I have created at least one chartag for generic characters like NCR Trooper, Enclave Soldier, Brotherhood of Steel Paladin, and Legionary (FNV)

Updated

I approve of the category change, but the rename should probably be an alias. Even then, I'm not sure the latter is needed, since the faction is more commonly referred to by its abbreviation.

Yes, a rename would be far better option. NCR by itself is ambiguous because most of us do not know what abbreviation it is. It should also have *_(fallout) qualifier just like the rest of related tags.

IMO, New California Republic, Brotherhood of Steel, Enclave and Caesar's Legion should be character tags, the same reason why Adeptus Astartes, Adepta Sororitas, Astra Militarum, are character tags.

Hiding the faction tags in general, I feel, makes it harder to see for someone who wants to learn about these factions but their eyes glaze over all the other tags. See below how the 40k stuff tags their factions.

I don't know about the other factions because 3 is the only Fallout I've played fully, but we have Brotherhood of Steel Paladin now for unnamed depictions of the iconic BoS armor

Actually, you know what? After having a lot of time to think about it, Adeptus Astartes, and all of the other factions, should be Gen tags. The generic members of the factions should be using character tags like Space Marine (warhammer 40k), instead of it being aliased to Adeptus Astartes.

It's still ridiculous that something like https://danbooru.donmai.us/posts/7090830 has three character tags for a single person, and this isn't a gacha game 30 skins/alts situation. If certain users are so dead set on tagging every single post with all of the faction tags, so that the generic members are harder to search for because the named characters are poisoning the results, then tags that are clearly designated for use specifically on the generic members should be created and everything else should be a general tag.

I don't care about users "learning" about factions and characters. Danbooru shouldn't care about that when creating and using tags. That's what fan wikis are for. Danbooru is not a fan wiki. Tags should do what they're supposed to do how they're supposed to do it, instead of people constantly trying to argue that tags should be in certain categories for nonsense reasons. All of the tags named after factions should be general tags, full stop.

Benefit of making this change is that all the Adeptus Astartes subfactions would be able to implicate Adeptus Astartes, unless there's some reason that wouldn't work. Same with the other factions.

That's because the post you used as an example BlindVigil is only true because Chaos Space Marines are fallen Adeptus Astartes. Personally I think CSM (as 40k fans abbreviate them) should be dissociated from Adeptus Astartes.

I also agree with gfz there because even if you don't have any named characters in that post, it'd be useful to tag it as Brotherhood of Steel because it's a popular faction in the series. Look at the Adepta Sororitas tag and notice how few named characters there are. Because everyone is drawing 'generic' Sisters of Battle instead of named ones.

I agree it can be bloated, but major Fallout factions like the Enclave, BoS, NCR and Caesar's Legion would fit fine I think.
