First I would like to apologize for what might have looked like tag vandalism since I was not aware that the usage for the truth tag was changed back in 2013. I tried searching the forum but I couldn't find a thread about. I fondly remember amusing myself by looking at the pictures that had that tag back in the day so I was curious about why it changed. Was the reason for the change subjectiveness?

The truth tag used to be for images that showed things users could relate to. It was the Danbooru tag equivalent to the Pixiv あるある tag.
What I call tag vandalism is that I have been putting the truth tag on images like that intermittently over the last several years unaware that it was changed and for that I apologize for any inconvenience that may have caused.
The truth tag wiki was changed on 2013-02-06 by lady garegga to:
Images with a mission to deliver an educational or insightful message.
Use on Danbooru
Any image which carries such a message either in itself or an accompanying text commentary by the artist.
Only use this tag for images where the artist is communicating in honesty or frankness.
