FWIW, I can recommend the ValidateTagInput userscript to prevent the accidental creation of tags when typos occur.
As for bang_dream! specifically, you can use the Tab key to autocomplete using the topmost suggestion, and when you've already typed the name without the exclamation mark, this should autocomplete the exclamation mark every single time.
