How do you suggest we tag something like post #3846529 ? Sanity scanner? I think we need a general tag for when its not obvious what kind of scanner is in an image.
That's a modified infrared thermometer, but I get your point. However, "scanner" is a poor choice as it invites users to be lazy and just tag scanner instead of the specific type of scanner - we've seen it happen before with the x_legwear tags. If this BUR doesn't get approved, several more specific tags will suffer because of the existence of rare exception cases.

Maybe a tag like handheld scanner would be useful.
