Despite evazion stating an intention to nuke child in forum #249358, only male child and female child are slated to be nuked for now (forum #249361). Unless he forgot to add it to the BUR, I can only assume he's giving child a second chance. Nuking a tag spanning about 40,000 posts is an extreme action regardless of the reason, so it makes sense to wait and see how things change after nuking the smaller, more recent tags first.
Regardless of the issues with child, babies are significantly different both physically and mentally from the characters typically tagged with child, so I think they should be treated as separate categories.
The bulk update request #19295 (forum #251459) has been rejected by @evazion.
