Standardizing SIG Sauer weapon name tags

The P226 is basically the exact same weapon as the P220, but adapted to use double stack magazines...

1.) There are no visually distinct differences between each handgun models. Both P220 and P226 bear the same external appearance and mechanism as well. You can see this image for reference. Notice the slide contour, trigger (guard) shape, and hammer. Nothing is substantially different externally despite custom wooden grip panels compatible for both variants, and newer models may have rails under the dust cover. . P225 is just shorter P220.
2.) For the same reason any Heckler & Koch-designed weapon name tags bear the H&K prefix for standardization and searchability while making them shorter.
3.) Nuking those tags manually by a single user (even in favour of more general model names) is a generally discouraged. While this BUR seeks to maintain tagging gun models accurate without causing tag count bloat.

4.) Both SIG Sauer P228 and P229 are basically shorter P226. P229 just have heavier slide. The size difference is still noticeable, especially if context and more details are available. Furthermore, both have rounder trigger guards and rounder profile compared to the parent P226 with squared-off one.

The three rifle models are better known with SG (Sturmgewehr) designation instead of standalone numbers. While the newer SIG 556 is not.

I would like to ask the community if removing assault rifle implication for SIG 550 will be a good idea or not, while giving it only rifle implication. Because the main reason is the tag should also cover the SG550-1 semi-auto only sniper variant (see post #5968791).

I'm for it, considering scoped versions make up 1/4th of the tag and the H&K G3 is in a similar position.

Sorry if I had to make separate BUR for implication issues, in case others will have different views. Tagging assault rifle or not to the SG550 here will depend on its depiction. Thank you for your agreement, anyways.

Alright, the standardization BUR continues. Manually renaming so many tags is indeed tricky. I was doing some research for this issue. Thank you for your diligent approval works and supportive arguments. In this tagging context, SIG Sauer is also applied to all weapons made by SIG before split into several SIG Sauer companies (either in Switzerland, Germany or USA). While most of them are still in production.

1.) SIG MCX Spear is essentially the battle rifle variant of the same SIG MCX assault rifle, chambered for full-power cartridges like 7.62mm NATO. Magazine curvature is only the differentiating point, while as usual artistic rendition is not always accurate. So it's better to tag the classification tag accordingly.
2.) SIG Pro pistol series consists of the SP2009, SP2340 and SP2022. Visually and mechanically speaking they are the same and very identical to each other. The SP2340 was the first offering, in only .357 Sig, and .40 S&W. It was supplemented by the SP2009 which was offered in 9mm only. SP2022 is the successor of earlier SP2340

It's the same gun pretty much....only difference is the trigger guard is rounded off on the SP2340, and the SP2022 has the rail....that's it.
